From the Artist
In my painting, my concern is with the distance between the represented image and the visual means of expression. In that sense, while my works are representational, they are often worked as if they are abstractions. I realize very well that the true subject of my paintings comes only in part from the objective realities that are presented. The artistic strategies used to present them, however moderate or extreme, play a major role. I like that struggle. In that distance between object and form I can discover the nature of my personal reality. It is in that distance that I can express the respect that I have for the non-photographic world, for life and for love. Wondrous things happen in our world, in our reality and in our time.
