Vuyile Voyiya

Vuyile Voyiya is a printmaker born in Langa, a township near Cape Town, South Africa. He earned his BFA from the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town.

He exhibits his art throughout South Africa and abroad at institutions including Community Arts Project, University of the Western Cape, South African National Gallery, Chelsea Gallery, Auto Atlantic Gallery, and The Cape Gallery, all in Cape Town; Kulturhuset, Stockholm, Sweden; Modern Art Oxford, England; 29th Biennale of Sydney at the Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia; Northwestern University, Evanston, IL; Grahamstown National Arts Festival, South Africa; US Art Gallery, Stellenbosch, South Africa; Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, England; and Kuvakukko, Kuopio, Finland.

Voyiya has won awards including Grassroots Year of the Youth Art Award in Cape Town and the Matt Andersson Art Award in Sweden, and an international Visiting Artist Residency at Brandywine Workshop and Archives, Philadelphia. 

Voyiya's work is in public and corporate collections including Moore Energy Resources, Washington DC; Durban Art Gallery, South Africa; Wits Art Museum, Johannesburg, South Africa; University of the Western Cape; South African National Gallery; and Philadelphia Museum of Art and Brandywine Workshop and Archives, Philadelphia.
