Richard Watson
Richard J. Watson is a painter, collage artist, musician, and muralist born in Badin, NC. He received a four-year certificate from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, and a teacher’s certification from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Education State Board of Private Schools. His work can be found in the collections of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; Sprint Corporation (now T-Mobile) in Kansas City, KS; African American Museum in Philadelphia; and Church of the Advocate, Philadelphia.
Watson painted the official portrait of former Mayor of Philadelphia, W. Wilson Goode. For more than three decades Watson has served as the exhibitions manager at the African American Museum in Philadelphia.
