Hanlyn Davies

Hanlyn Davies was born in Gorseinon, Wales. He attended Swansea College of Art, Wales, and earned an MFA from Yale University School of Art, New Haven, CT.

Davies' work has been exhibited at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea; Fleming Museum of Art, Burlington, VT; Northeastern University, Boston; Mary Ryan Gallery, New York City; Hahn Gallery, Philadelphia; Nagoya City Art Museum, Japan; A.I.R. Gallery, London; Museum of Fine Arts, Springfield, MA; DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Lincoln, MA; and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston.

Davies has received two artist’s fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, along with awards from the Massachusetts Arts Foundation and residencies at Brandywine Workshop and Archives, Philadelphia, and Yaddo Colony, Saratoga Springs, NY. In 2000 he received an honorary fellowship from the University of Wales, Swansea, and in 2004 a distinguished teaching award from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he chaired the Department of Art for ten years. Davies was the recipient of a 2016 Pollack-Krasner Foundation Grant.

Hanlyn Davies lives and works in New Haven, Connecticut.
