Donna Meeks

Born in Louisville, KY, artist Donna Meeks earned her BA in drawing and MA in teaching in art from the University of Louisville and an MFA in painting and sculpture from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.

Meeks' work has been exhibited nationally in diverse venues including the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, Santa Ana, CA; The Alternative Museum, New York City; Alexandria Museum of Art, LA; Armory Art Center, West Palm Beach, FL; Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, OH; Texas Visual Arts Association Downtown Gallery, Dallas; New Visual Arts Center of Jersey Center, Summit; Rockville Arts Place, MD; and South Bend Museum of Art, IN.

Meeks has works in the permanent collections of the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, Beaumont; Brandywine Workshop and Archives, Philadelphia; and Kirkland Fine Arts Center at Millikin University, Decatur, IL.

Meeks was a visiting artist in the Department of Art at the University of Texas Permian Basin, Odessa, in 2012; in 2005 she was an artist-in-residence at the Fundacion Torre-Pujales,Galicia, Spain; and in 2001 she received a Knight Foundation fellowship to serve as a visiting artist at Brandywine Workshop and Archives. She is listed in Who’s Who in American Art.

Meeks is professor and chair of the Department of Art at Lamar University, Beaumont, TX, where she also lives.
