Dean Dass

A professor of printmaking at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, since 1985, Dean Dass was born in Hampton, IA, and received his BA from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, and an MFA from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University, Philadelphia.

Dass has exhibited at the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History, NC; Dolan/Maxwell Gallery and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia; Olson-Larsen Galleries, Des Moines; Delaware Contemporary, Wilmington; Brooklyn Museum, New York City; Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond; The Print Center, Philadelphia; Sonoma State University, Rohnert Park, CA; University of Hawaii, and other institutions. His work is in public collections including the Brooklyn Museum of Art, New York City; Philadelphia Museum of Art; Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN; Alvar Aalto Museum, Jyväskylä, Finland; and the National Collection of Poland, Krakow.

Dass received Tyler School of Art and Architecture's Alumni Award and the University of Northern Iowa's Meritorious Scholarship.
