Wood is known for his public installation art and was hired in 1971 by the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Urban Outreach Department to assist in its Environmental Art Program for local neighborhood-based art projects. The program was credited for creating paintings on more than 100 walls in Philadelphia neighborhoods. He worked with Keith Haring, Gilberto Wilson, and Jose Sebourne on the collaborative public art mural We the Youth in 1987, which commemorated the bicentennial of the United States Constitution.
